Gfci in garage wont reset. While this isnt harmful a gfci added in the bathroom may trip one originally installed in the garage. The gfi protection comes from an internal breaker that trips to terminate electrical current to the outlet if the circuit is overloaded or shorted. Look for gfcis in bathrooms kitchens basements garages and on the homes exterior. Complications like this can make it hard to find the root cause of the problem.
If the gfci wont reset or the button doesnt pop out when you press the test button there may be no power to the gfci or you may have a bad gfci. When the outlets breaker has tripped it must be reset to restore electrical current to the outlet. Until the ground fault is identified and corrected the gfci will immediately trip again every time it is reset. Resetyou will have to press the reset button after the gfci outlet shuts off power to an electrical circuit due to a detected problem or after the test button is pressed.
Test and reset every gfci you find.
